EUGENE, Ore. — No. 2 BYU men's cross country swept the 2024 Bill Dellinger Invitational with 15 points at the Pine Ridge Golf Club Friday afternoon.
"That was a great team effort and our first perfect score in a long time,” said head coach Ed Eyestone. “Even more impressive was the five second split between our first and fifth man. James Corrigan moved up well from two weeks ago and is getting back into shape after a little break post Olympics. As a team we did a better job getting out strong and running as a pack which will be critical if we are to vie for a conference and national championship. We are pleased with where we are at right now, but have a lot of work to go yet in the build.”

"That was a really fun day for our squad," said assistant coach Ryan Waite. "To sweep any meet is great, but to do it against competition of this caliber is special. Each of the men took good steps today towards their season goals individually and collectively. We’ll use this meet as an additional data point and stimulus on our build for the season, and now get ready for the championship meets coming up."
Senior Casey Clinger led the pack of Cougars across the finish line in 22:54.80. Clinger has placed in the top-four in each meet he's competed in this season, taking the individual victory at the Autumn Classic and placing fourth overall at the Nuttycombe Invitational.
Sophomore James Corrigan finished in stride with Clinger, crossing the finish in 22:55.90. Corrigan has scored for the Cougars in both meets he's raced in since his return to Provo after competing in the 3000-meter steeplechase for Team USA in the 2024 Paris Olympics in August.
"Talk about history," said Corrigan. "It’s rare that a team gets the 1-5 sweep and I was honored to be a part of it. I’m proud of my teammates for pushing hard and I’m proud of myself for choosing to stick from the beginning. We’re building a lean, mean running machine of a team out here."
Seniors Aidan Troutner, Creed Thompson and Joey Nokes rounded out BYU's scoring runners, placing third, fourth and fifth, respectively.
