PROVO, Utah - Former BYU track and field sprinter Justin Bingham passed away on Saturday October 5th from a tragic canyoneering accident.

The 40 year-old fell while canyoneering with three friends near the exit of Heaps Canyon at Zion National Park in southern Utah.

"Justin brought a smile and a football every day to practice," said Kyle Grossarth who served as an assistant coach to Bingham. "His competitive spirit and enthusiasm for life were contagious to all of his teammates. He was such a great representative of BYU and the Track and Field program. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his sweet wife Lindsay and their 4 children”.
