Men’s golf set to compete at Big 12 Match Play

The Cougars are prepared to tee off in their first Big 12 event of the 2024-25 season at Houston Oaks Country Club from Oct. 7-9.

PROVO, Utah – The Cougars begin their first Big 12 event of the 2024-25 season at Houston Oaks Country Club from Oct. 7-9.

Coming off of a fourth-place finish at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational, BYU returns to the course for the Big 12 Match Play event. 

The starting lineup for BYU consists of six players: senior Cole Ponich, juniors Simon Kwon and Tyson Shelley, sophomores Angus Klintworth and Peter Kim and freshman Kevin Wu, who is making his debut as a Cougar.

Other teams at this tournament include Arizona State, Iowa State, Cincinnati, Oklahoma State, Kansas, Kansas State, UCF, Utah, Houston, West Virginia, Texas Tech, Colorado, TCU and Baylor.

The format for this event includes three rounds of pool play against Utah, Houston and West Virginia, followed up by a potential semifinal and final.

BYU will take on Houston during the Monday morning matchup and then West Virginia in the Monday afternoon competition. They conculde pool play on Tuesday morning against Utah.
