PROVO, Utah — BYU softball head coach Gordon Eakin has announced the signing of four student-athletes to join the program for the 2026 season.
The Cougars’ 2025 recruiting class features catcher Kaiya Fabela, third baseman Alyssa Grajeda, pitcher Rita Tavita and infielder Irma Urincho.

Kaiya Fabela
Catcher | 5-9 | Impact Gold | Keller High School | Fort Worth, TX
"Kaiya will be a great addition to our program. She is not only very solid behind the plate, but she can also flat out hit. She will provide great power numbers offensively. We look for her to provide the leadership we need from the catching position. Kaiya will make an immediate impact."
Alyssa Grajeda
Third Baseman | 5-4 | Stith Batbusters Maroon | Santa Margarita Catholic HS | Rancho Santa Margarita, CA
"Alyssa is an excellent third baseman but I believe her strength will be offensively. She can hit and hit for power. She is mentally tough and has competed at the highest level of travel ball with great success. She will make an impact on our lineup throughout her career."
Rita Tavita
Right-Handed Pitcher | 5-10 | California Cruisers Gold | West Jordan HS | Salt Lake City, UT
"Rita has the potential to be a game changer not only from the mound but with her powerful bat. Rita brings a great drop ball and changeup to our staff. Rita will also find her way into our lineup when she is not pitching. We look for great things from Rita."
Irma Urincho
First/Third Baseman | 5-7 | Corona Angels Howard | Canyon HS | Anaheim, CA
"We are very excited that Irma chose BYU. She is a natural leader. I believe Irma will set offense records at BYU during her career. She will become a feared hitter in the Big 12. Irma is also very solid defensively. She will impact our lineup immediately."
