SHOT MAKER
After only playing in four games last season due to injury, redshirt junior Dawson Baker reintroduced himself to Cougar Nation in Wednesday's 99-55 victory over Queens. The native of Coto De Caza, Calif. scored 17 of his BYU-high 22 points in the second half where he went 8-of-10 from the field and 6-of-7 from beyond the arc. Five of his career-high six 3-pointers came in the final 20 minutes of regulation, making him one of 10 players in program history to knock down five 3-pointers in the second half of a game.
Baker ranks 194th among active NCAA Division I men's basketball players with 1,068 points.
THE DOC IS IN
In Wednesday's win, BYU improved to 21-4 when Trevin Knell makes three or more 3-pointers as the senior went 4-of-7 from beyond the arc, finishing with a season-high 16 points.
With his performance against Queens, Knell has now connected on 171 3-pointers in 117 games as Cougar, which are tied with Zac Seljaas for the 8th-most 3-point field goals in program history.
LOOKING FOR THE TRIFECTA
Keba Keita is one of three players in NCAA Division I men's basketball to be averaging a double-double and shoot over 70.0 percent from the field, joining Vanderbilt's Devin McGlockton and Seattle's Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe (min. three games played).
A double-double on Saturday would make Keita the first Cougar with three stragith double-doubles since Yoeli Childs achieved the feat in December 2014 against UNLV, Nevada and Utah State.
WINNING IS FUN
BYU remained undefeated and extended its non-conference home win streak to 16 games with its win over Queens. The Cougars are outscoring teams by an average of 30.3 points during the streak that dates back to December 2022.
