PROVO, Utah - BYU women's tennis looks to remain undefeated this week with in-state matchups against Utah on Friday, Feb. 9, at 5 p.m. and Weber State on Saturday, Feb. 10, at noon.
The match on Friday will be held at the George S. Eccles Tennis Center in Salt Lake City, and the match on Saturday will be held at the Indoor Tennis Courts at BYU. The Cougars' matchup against the Wildcats is BYU's first home match of the season and the first home match as a member of the Big 12 Conference. BYU Notes
- Head Coach Holly Hasler is in her sixth season, boasting a record of 62-47. Hasler is assisted by Gabby Curtis, who is in her third season.
- The Cougars are 4-0 with a 5-2 win over Utah State last week.
- Sophomore Tina Li currently leads BYU in singles victories with four (4-0), and the doubles tandems of junior Bobo Huang and senior Kaavya Sawhney, and Li and Kara Wheatley are tied for the most doubles wins for BYU with three (3-0).
- Recent junior transfer Sawhney picked up her first singles victory as a Cougar last week with her 6-2, 6-4 victory over the Aggies.
- Wheatley is 3-0 in singles with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Utah State last week.
- Huang is currently ranked the No. 100 singles player in the nation.
- The Cougars are 4-0 for the first time since 2021.
Utah Notes
- The Utes are 3-2 this year with a 4-2 loss against Purdue a couple of weeks ago.
- Utah went 13-11 last season, with eight wins at home.
- The Utes are led by Ric Mortera, who is in his fifth season leading the program.
- Utah finished seventh in the Pac-12 last season and was ranked first in the ITA Mountain Region.
- Sophomore Marcela Lopez is currently ranked the No. 59 singles player in the nation.
