Barber led all conference freshmen in points, rebounds, blocks and field goal percentage this week en route to her first Freshman of the Week honor.
The first-time starter was the most efficient scorer for the Cougars on Saturday night as she scored a career-high 15 points on 7-of-9 shooting, the most makes from the floor in her young career. She also knocked down 1-of-2 attempts from downtown.
Barber was also active on the glass with a career-best 12 rebounds, exceeding her previous high of 10 that came in BYU's win over Houston. The Cougars are now 2-0 this season when Barber records 10 or more rebounds in a game. The freshman also notched career-bests in assists with three dimes and blocks with two rejections on Saturday afternoon.
The Idaho native is the second Cougar player to earn Big 12 Freshman of the Week honors this season, joining fellow first-year player Delaney Gibb who has earned the distinction six times. This marks the fourth-consecutive week in which a BYU freshman has earned conference Freshman of the Week honors and the sixth week in the last seven.
Barber and the Cougars return to the Marriott Center on Wednesday, Feb. 5 for a 7 p.m. MT matchup with the UCF Knights. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ and broadcast on BYU Radio with Jason Shepherd on the call.
