ST. GEORGE, Utah — BYU plated runs in four of the five innings as it beat Utah Tech, 14-0 at Karl Brooks Field on Tuesday evening.

BOX SCORE

The Cougars (16-6, 1-2 Big 12) put up a pair of five spots, scoring early and often in the run-rule win. Ilove’a Brittingham recorded her team-leading sixth home run of the season, and Aleia Agbayani finished with a career-high six RBI.

Player Highlights

BYU batted through the order as it plated five runs in the top of the first inning. Lily Owens and Hailey Morrow both singled before Brittingham hammered a homer past the left center fence.

The Cougars then loaded the bases on three straight singles from Lindy Milkowski, Bre Townsend and Maddie Udall-Woolley, with another single by Agbayani scoring both Milkowski and Townsend for the early 5-0 lead.

Loading the bases again in the second, Owens and Brittingham both singled before a Milkowski walk. Townsend reached on a fielder’s choice, scoring Owens and putting the Cougars ahead 6-0.

Extending its lead in the fourth, BYU juiced the base once more on a Brittingham single as well as walks by Milkowski and Townsend. A groundout by Udall-Woolley plated Brittingham, and Agbayani double down the left field line cleared the bases, scoring both Townsend and Milkowski for a 9-0 advantage.

The Cougars batted through the order in the fifth, loading the bases for the fourth time and putting up another five-spot. Keila Kamoku was hit by a pitch, Owens singled, Amiya Hernandez, Jaelynn Lambert and Tristen Turlington each walked before Udall-Woolley and Agbayani singled as BYU made it 14-0.

After starter Kaysen Korth went four innings, giving up just one hit and striking out four on 55 pitches, Gianna Mares came in for her first action of the season, closing things out in the fifth to seal the run-rule victory.
