PROVO, Utah — Expressing how he was honored to be asked to address BYU students and the campus community, BYU head football coach Kalani Sitake emphasized trusting in God’s divine design and discovering His plan for each of us during his devotional address in the Marriott Center on Tuesday morning. Sitake became only the second BYU football coach to deliver a campus devotional, joining College Football Hall of Fame coach LaVell Edwards who spoke in 1976.
If I could go back to my freshman self at BYU and tell myself anything, it would be that God has a plan for YOU. It’s important to realize that there is a Divine Design for us. - Kalani Sitake#BYUDevo pic.twitter.com/3nIpi0Rm6g

“It is in our most painful moments in life, that we literally have someone that knows, exactly what we’re going through,” said Sitake as he spoke of the Savior, Jesus Christ. “We are connected to Him. And just like Him, we need to seek the design and trust God’s plan for us to overcome any adversity.”
Sitake shared several personal experiences of challenging times during his life where he was able to understand through God’s love and the help of others that he could overcome adversity and have confidence to know he was loved and “everything was going to be fine.”

“God will provide,” testified Sitake, while repeating the encouragement of BYU President C. Shane Reese that God loves underdogs and the importance of responding to promptings of the Spirit to “be the miracle someone else needs.”
“It may be something very simple and a small detail to you but a milestone for another,” Sitake explained. “No matter what any of you are going through right now in your lives, His heavenly angels and earthly angels will be there to comfort, encourage and hug you—reminding us all that everything is going to be fine, I love you and God loves you.”
“Men and women who turn their lives over to God will discover that he can make a lot more out of their lives than they can.”#BYUFOOTBALL #BYUdevo #GoCougs pic.twitter.com/kdzCKG6frH
