PROVO, Utah – BYU soccer competed in its annual Blue/White game on Saturday night at South Field, with the Blue team defeating White 2-0.
The scrimmage consisted of two 30-minute periods. The Blue team put up 24 shots to White’s 13.
First Half
The Blue team struck first as Ellie Walbruch knocked in a shot to the bottom right off an assist from Kate Denney with less than two minutes remaining in the half. Blue quickly regained possession and freshman forward Sophie Sivulich had a shot at the net at 29:43, but missed wide.
Each team tallied two shots on goal with freshmen goalkeepers Paiton Collins of the Blue team notching two saves and Sarah Mathis from the White team tallying one. The Blue team recorded five corner kicks with White only generating one.
Second Half
With just over 10 minutes to play, a Kenney foul in the box offered Walbruch her second goal of the night, burrying the penalty kick into the bottom left of the goal.
White powered some energy late in the final half, but were unable to capitalize. The matchup concluded in a Blue win, 2-0.
