OGDEN, Utah — Daniel Summerhays, Cole Ponich, and Peter Kuest made the cut and will play into the weekend portion of the Korn Ferry Tour’s Utah Championship on Friday at Ogden Golf and Country Club.

The 2020 Utah Championship runner-up Summerhays shot the lowest score out of any BYU representative through 36 holes. His 1-under 69 first round was followed by a bogey-free 7-under 63 round two. The former first team All-American recorded four birdies Thursday and seven birdies Friday to help him jump the leaderboard by 41 spots to be tied for eighth and make the cut.

The recent graduate Ponich made the cut for the first time on his third ever appearance in this Korn Ferry event. He shot 4-under 66 on Thursday and 3-under 67 on Friday to make himself tied for 12th place.

With Kuest being right on the cusp of the projected cut line each day, he managed to make the cut by one stroke. The 2020 graduate shot an even par 70 day one and 3-under 67 day two to earn himself another 36 holes to play while being tied for 62nd.

Incoming freshman Kihei Akina missed the cut with a 1-over 71 on Thursday and 2-under 68 on Friday.

The three former Cougars will be back at Ogden Golf and Country Club for the third round on Saturday morning with it being broadcast live on the Golf Channel. Live scoring can be found on the Korn Ferry Tour website.
