PROVO, Utah — After a two-week break BYU men’s tennis heads to Eugene, Oregon this weekend for a road trip against Portland State and Oregon.
The Cougars will first play Portland State on Friday, Jan. 31, at the Ducks' home courts at 2 p.m. MST. BYU then faces off against Oregon the next day on Feb. 1 at 11 a.m. Livestream for both matches will be available here.
BYU Notes
- The Cougars began their season with a win at home against Weber State.
- They are seeking their first 2-0 start since the beginning of their 2022 dual match season.
- The Cougars beat the Wildcats 6-1, sweeping doubles play and dropping just one singles match.
- These will be BYU’s first contests on the road this season.
Portland State Notes
- The Vikings are led by Head Coach Vetu Mam. Mam is entering his sixth season as the head coach in Portland and has compiled a record of 26-41.
- Portland State went 5-13 last year.
- The Vikings are 1-2 in their three matches of 2025. They dropped their season opener to Washington (4-0) and lost to Utah State (6-1) at home the next week. They won their home opener against Puget Sound (7-0).
- This is the first matchup between Portland State and BYU.
Oregon Notes
- The Ducks are led by Head Coach Nils Schyllander. Schyllander is entering his 19th season and has an overall record of 243-177.
- Oregon went 15-13 in its competitions last year and was 9-4 in home matches.
- The Ducks are also 1-2 in their first three matches of the season. They opened their season with a win against Santa Clara (7-0) at home. They then went on the road and lost to Stanford (4-0) and narrowly lost to Tulsa (4-3).
- BYU is 7-7 all-time against Oregon.
