BYU followed it with three victories from Chodur, Fuchs and Thayne. This secured the match as the second wave of matches began play. R. Owen dropped the first set after struggling to hold serve, he was able to find some success in the second and had set points but Sklenka proved too much in the end.

The last two matches to go on both were wins from Wells and Duong. Duong fought hard in the first set, breaking late in the set to secure the win. He was able to ride this momentum and control much of the second only dropping two games. Wells got off to a hot start but Wensley adjusted in the second set to take a close one and force a 10-point tiebreak to decide the match. He got down a minibreak early but clawed his way back into it and won two consecutive points on Wensley’s serve to go from 7-8 to 9-8. He then finished it on his own serve, winning the tiebreak 10-8.
