PROVO, Utah – BYU men’s track and field crews compete at two meets with the distance squad in Boston for the John Thomas Terrier Classic on Jan. 31 and the multis, throws, sprints and jumps groups headed to Logan to compete at the Roman Ruiz Speed and Power Invitational Jan. 30-31.
John Thomas Terrier Classic
BYU returns to the Track and Tennis center at Boston University after competing at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener in late December 2025. The Cougars are set to compete in the mile, 3000-meter and 5000-meter.
Carter Cutting returns to Boston to once again to compete in the mile after setting the no. 3 all-time BYU record in the event earlier this season. Caleb Johnson will join Cutting in the mile.
Isaac Hedengren, Liam Heninger, Jackson Henstrom and Thomas Boyden will appear in the 3000m.
Senior Creed Thompson is set to make his season debut in the 5000m after setting the No. 2 all-time BYU record in the event last season. He will be joined in the event by Noah Jenkins who holds the no. 6 all-time BYU record and Tayvon Kitchen who holds the no. 8 all-time BYU record.
Utah State Roman Ruiz Speed and Power Invitational
The Cougars attend the Utah State Indoor Invitational for the second year in a row. At the meet during the 2025 season, Logan Hubler matched the no. 6 all-time BYU record in the 60-meter hurdles at 7.88 seconds.
Hubler, a Senior this season, returns to the meet to compete once again in the 60m hurdles. He will represent the hurdles group alongside teammates Garrett Copelin and Jayden Jessee.
The throws squad will feature Erik Bryant, Peyton Willams and Tyler Poole. They are expected to compete in the weight throw and shot put.
Hayen Gribble, Connor Saunders and Carter Walker will compete for the jumps group in the high jump. Walker enters the meet on the heels of recording a first place finish and a personal-record mark of 2.05m/6-8.75 at the Penn Elite Invite on Jan. 24.
Spencer Kirkham will compete for the sprints group in the 400-meter, with pole vaulters Silas Zimmerman and Dallin Thornton returning to action after taking first and third respectively at the Penn Elite Invite.
