DALLAS — No. 78 women’s golf (296-303-303–902) wrapped up the Big 12 Women’s Golf Championship in 10th at 38-over par on Saturday at Dallas Athletic Club.

“We had really good stretches by some of our younger players, which is encouraging for the future,” head coach Carrie Roberts said. “We started off really strong today which was good to see, and it was good to see Lily take 12th in her final event.”

After being in third on Friday, Iowa State (293-285-281–859) leapfrogged to first place to secure the Big 12 trophy at 5-under par. The Cyclones had the best final round by 10 strokes at 7-under par on the day on their way to tournament-best marks in par-4 and par-5 scoring and made birdies. Houston (285-287-293–865) captured the runner-up spot with 1-over par. UCF (287-289-294–870) carded 6-over par for the event for a third-place finish. The Knights and Cyclones each had a player declared a co-champion. Arizona State (294-287-293–874) and Oklahoma State (293-290-291–874) shared fourth at 10-over par to cap off the top-5 team finishes. 

Lily McCauley (73-72-73–218) tied for 12th in the conference tournament at 2-over par, her best placement this season. With back-to-back top-15 finishes, the senior boosted her top-15 count to four in her BYU career. 

Ava Schroeder (71-75-78–224) ended at 8-over par for the event to an eventual tie for 31st. Maria Jose “MJ” Barragan (74-77-74–225) was one stroke behind the sophomore with a 9-over-par scorecard.

Kanyanol (Naji) Aramkul (78-79-78–235) placed 58th at the 6,270-yard course at 19-over par.

Berlin Long subbed in for Whitney Banz’s (78-81–159) in round three and recorded a 7-over 79. 

The Cougars will now wait to see their potential selection for NCAA Regionals on May 11-13.
