Playing Career

Assistant coach Tele Wightman joined the Cougar Coaching staff in spring 2008. As a former touring professional and collegiate golfer, Wightman brings a wealth of experience in helping a golfer perform on the golf course.
He played golf growing up in Chicopee, Massachusetts where he also attended Chicopee High School. Throughout his very successful junior golf career, he earned a spot on the University of South Florida golf team, where he played No. 1 throughout his 4 years of school. He graduated with a Bachelors degree in Communications. Wightman also served an LDS mission in Taipei, Taiwan and upon returning from his mission, he turned professional and played the last seven years on the Canadian Tour, New England Tour, and Hooters Tour. He moved to Utah last year to be closer to his two sisters, both of whom played golf for the Cougars (Sara Ofahengaue and Juli Erekson) and to work with the BYU womens golf team. He married Erin Rees on November 8, 2008.
