Bret Lopez made the first cut Monday in The Fan’s Choice Award balloting in which the champion will be honored at the 2014 TD Ameritrade Home Run Derby, airing Thursday, July 3 on ESPN at 8:30 p.m. ET.
At one point near the end of Monday's first-round balloting Lopez advanced to the top of the 10-player field, but fell back into second and third places as the second of three rounds began. The Orem, native and senior designated hitter advances to Round 2 voting, which continues until 11:59 am CT on June 16. The top 4 vote-getters will advance to Round 3, which will take place starting on June 16 at 12:00 pm CT and continue until 11:59 am CT on June 23.
