Time Change to Noon Saturday, AFA Series Starts Thursday

Home for two weeks of league baseball, BYU begins by hosting the Air Force Academy in a three-game series starting Thursday.

The Cougars, 14-16 overall and 6-6 in the MWC, hope to improve their standing as they face AFA, 11-20 and 0-11. The Falcons last won a couple weeks ago at Hawai`I and started league play last month with a pair of one-run losses.

"We know they are struggling, but traditionally they fight and battle all the way," said BYU Coach Vance Law. "We have to play well to be where we want to end up, so we've told our players now in the time to turn things around. We hope to gel and get into the thick of the conference race."

Law pointed out BYU has lost four one-run games in the last three weeks. BYU has lost seven of eight one-run games this season.

"We need to start making our own breaks," said Law.

Thursday and Friday's games are at 7 p.m., but game-time for Saturday has been moved up from 1 p.m., to start at noon.

BYU's probable pitching rotation remains the same as in recent weeks with Jeff Mousser (3-3, 4.82) on Thursday, Paul Jacinto (4-4, 4.30) on Friday and Ken Gravley (2-1, 5.05) on Saturday.

The games will be broadcast live locally over KOVO Radio 960 AM and carried over the Internet through links at www.byucougars.com.
