PROVO, Utah — Brigham Young University and the University of Arkansas today announced the schools have agreed to a home-and-home football series in 2022 and 2023.

The Cougars and the Razorbacks are set to meet at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo on Oct. 15, 2022, with the second game scheduled for Sept. 23, 2023, at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Arkansas will be just the third Southeastern Conference team to play in Provo. Mississippi State played at LaVell Edwards Stadium in 2000 and 2016, while Missouri is schedule to make its first appearance in Provo in 2020.

“I’ve been on the beautiful campus at the University of Arkansas and seen their state-of-the-art athletic facilities,” BYU director of athletics Tom Holmoe said. “It will be a road trip BYU fans will not want to miss. I look forward to the Razorbacks and Cougars battling for the first time when we host Arkansas in Provo in 2022.”

The two schools have never met before in football. Arkansas was founded in 1871 and began playing football in 1894. The Razorbacks were a member of the Southwest Conference from 1915-91 before joining the SEC. The program has played in 42 bowl games and captured the 1964 national championship.

BYU was founded in 1875 and began playing varsity football in 1922. The Cougars won a national championship in 1984 and have played in 35 bowl games. BYU student-athletes have achieved 13 Consensus All-America selections, won seven Sammy Baugh Trophies, four Davey O’Brien Awards, two Outland Trophies, one Doak Walker Award, one Maxwell Award and one Heisman Trophy.

Kickoff times and broadcast plans for the BYU-Arkansas series will be announced at a later date. For more information on BYU football, visit BYUcougars.com.
