Cody Hoffman had a career day, catching 12 passes for 182 yards and a BYU single-game record with five touchdowns. His 182 receiving yards are a career best and his 12 receptions was one shy of his career best. It was his seventh 100-yard game of the year and 13th of his career.
MAKING THE MOST OF IT
James Lark got his first start in the last regular season game of his career. Lark connected on 21 of 25 passes for 184 yards and three touchdowns in just the first half. He kept up the pace in the second half and finished the game 34 of 50 for 384 yards and six touchdowns. His six touchdowns are one shy of the BYU single-game record. Lark is the 10th BYU quarterback to throw for six touchdowns in a game. (Sheide, Nielsen, Wilson, McMahon, Young, Bosco, Detmer, Sarkisian, Hall). His 384 yards are the most by a BYU quarterback making his first start.
HOFFMAN KEEPS IT GOING
Wide receiver Cody Hoffman kept his streak alive, now catching at least one pass in 31 straight games and 37 of 38 career games.
MOVING UP THE CHARTS
With 12 receptions, Hoffman passed Margin Hooks with 193 career receptions for No. 4 in school history. Also, with another 182 receiving yards, Hoffman moved ahead of Phil Odle for No. 6 in career receiving yards at 2,604 yards. Hoffman’s five touchdowns give him 28 career receiving touchdowns, No. 3 in school history and just two shy of No. 1 Austin Collie.
FALSLEV REPRESENTS
JD Falslev set BYU up with a short field on a season-best 42-yard punt return. He also recorded a career-best 9 receptions for 68 yards and one touchdown. Falslev also had five punt returns for 68 yards.
ABOVE THE AVERAGE
Senior punter Riley Stephenson had just two punt on the day, a 49-yarder and one of 58 yards, above his season average of 47.1 yards heading into the game. Stephenson, a Ray Guy Award semifinalist, entered the game No. 2 in the nation in punting.
DEFENSIVE LEADERS
Junior linebacker Kyle Van Noy notched a career-best three sacks in the game. He now has 11.5 on the year. Senior Brandon Ogletree rallies for 10 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss. Freshman Bronson Kaufusi recorded 2.0 tackles for loss, including 1.5 sacks.
TOP FROSH
Jamaal Williams rushed for 62 yards in the game, moving him ahead of Ronney Jenkins (733) for most rushing yards by a true freshman at BYU with 744 yards this season. Williams is tied for the most rushing touchdowns by a true freshman running back at BYU with 11 scores on the ground this year.
RUNNING OUT THE FLAG
Senior linebacker Uona Kaveinga led BYU out of the tunnel carrying the team flag today. Sophomore Lene Lesatele also ran out the special teams flag. Former cougar Micah Alba (DB, 01-04) carried the alumni flag.
