Before BYU
Three-year football letterman at Waco High...all-academic team in 1995 and 1996...all-time leading receiver at Waco High...set school and state record with 102-yard punt return for a touchdown...all-state honorable mention as a wide receiver...ran 40-yard sprint in 4.5 seconds...attended the same high school as BYU coach Brian Mitchell.
Summary
As a senior led the team with 61 receptions and 718 yards receiving...finished career in 2nd place on BYU's all-time receiving list with 2,841...ranked fourth in the nation with a streak of 36 straight games with at least one reception...First Team All-Mountain West Conference as a junior.
