Quotes

BYU head coach Dave Rose

Thoughts on game

“UT Arlington is a great team. They were prepared for us. I thought we were in really good shape ready to go, but they just out executed us. We had a tough time making shots, especially in the first half. We will learn from it. This was a good test for us.”

BYU guard Elijah Bryant

Thoughts on game

“UT Arlington executed their stuff really well and are a really good team. We could not shoot from the 3-point line.”

On the future

“We have to stick together as a team for the next one. A lot of teams don’t experience this until later in the season, so the fact that we’re experiencing it now will help us a lot to build together. Everyone we have on our team can shoot, but the next guy just needs to step up and hold ourselves accountable.”

BYU forward Dalton Nixon

On final minutes of game

“I tried to keep working hard at the end of the game because there was still time on the clock.”

On looking forward

“We can get back into the gym and get back to working on what we do. We have to work together.”

UT Arlington head coach Scott Cross

Thoughts on game

“I thought that we played really well on both ends of the floor. We have been playing really well offensively in our previous games, but not very good on defense or rebounding. I thought that we picked it up today. I’m proud of them. I think that we hit some tough shots. They play really good defense, so I definitely think that they were better defending us this game than they were in the previous game. I think we just hit some good shots, especially in the first half.”
