Men’s basketball hosts Idaho State in season opener on Monday

PROVO, Utah — The 2022-23 men’s basketball season gets underway on Monday, Nov. 7, when BYU hosts the Bengals of Idaho State inside the friendly confines of the Marriott Center. Tip is scheduled for 7 p.m. MDT.

Monday’s season opener will be broadcast on BYUtv. Greg Wrubell and Mark Durrant will also be on the call on the BYU Sports Network on BYU Radio Sirius XM 143 and KSL 102.7/1160 AM.

  • With its 109-69 victory over Ottawa (Ariz.) on Wednesday evening, BYU improved to 16-0 in exhibitions since the beginning of the 2012-13 season.
  • Six Cougars scored in double figures against the Spirit, including junior guard Spencer Johnson, who finished with a game-high 16 points as he went 6-of-9 from the field and 3-of-4 from 3-point range.
  • The Cougars have won 12-straight season openers at the Marriott Center.
  • BYU is 39-6 at the Marriott Center under fourth year head coach Mark Pope.
