Rudi The Starter

Rudi Williams has scored the opening basket for the Cougars in both games this season. 

Finding Range

After only hitting a total of three 3-pointers in the season opener, six different Cougars combined for nine 3-pointers against the Aztecs. 

Getting Everyone Involved

All 10 players that saw the court on Friday scored including four players who reached double figures. 

Pope vs. Top 25 Opponents

The Cougars fell to 3-8 when facing Top 25 opponents under fourth year head coach Mark Pope. Friday marked the first loss for the Cougars.

Getting Better

The Cougars shot 45.9 percent from the field on Friday, close to 10 percent better than they shot in the season opener. 

PLAYERS NOTES

First Timer

Trey Stewart scored in the first half for the first time in his career hitting the front end of a 1-in-1 with 5:06 remaining before halftime. He also connected on his first career 3-pointer 30 seconds later.

Spencer Showin’ Out

Spencer Johnson finished with a career-high 17 points, marking the fourth time in his career that the junior has scored in double figures in consecutive games. 

Go, Go, Gideon

Gideon George continues to do it all for the Cougars as the senior scored in double figures for the second straight game and 22nd time in his career.
