NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced today that BYU is among the All-Academic teams for the 2015 cross country season.

The Cougars were selected after posting a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or higher at the conclusion of the season. BYU had a team GPA of 3.18 this year. They also started at least five runners at an NCAA Division I Regional Cross Country meet to fulfill the other part of the qualifying criteria. The Cougars finished in third place at the NCAA Mountain Region Championships in November.

In addition to the team accolades, two BYU athletes were named to the 2015 Division I Men’s All-Academic team for their individual accomplishments. Senior Aaron Fletcher and freshman Dallin Farnsworth were both selected to the team. In order to qualify for the honor, a student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 and finish in the top 25 at regionals or as an All-American at the national meet. Farnsworth and Fletcher finished ninth and 16th, respectively, at the NCAA Mountain Region Championships.

The academic awards cap a successful season that saw the Cougars finish 12th in the nation at the NCAA meet. It is the eighth consecutive year that BYU has finished in the top 20.
