LIHUE, Hawai'i – Rhett Rasmussen's six-under 66 vaulted him to the top of the leaderboard after the second round of the John A. Burns Invitational Friday at Wailua Golf Course.

"It was a great round today by Rhett (Rasmussen)," BYU head coach Bruce Brockbank said. "When we needed someone to step up with the team struggling he got it going on the back nine. We need four great scores tomorrow to make a run at the team title."

As a team, BYU fell into a tie for fourth at nine-under after posting the best first-round score. The Cougars combined for a one-under 287. Arizona State's 12-under put the Sun Devils in the lead with an overall score of 18-under.

Rasmussen stands alone at eight-under. Peter Kuest, who was tied for the lead coming into the second round, is tied for fourth at six-under after hitting an even-par 72 today. Chad Hardy's combined one-over is followed by a five-over and 11-over from Carson Lundell and Kelton Hirsch, respectively.

Play concludes with tomorrow's final round. Live stats and a leaderboard are available at GolfStat.com.
