Game Notes - BYU at CSU

PROVO, Utah —With a 1-1 record, BYU women’s basketball continues with its first road trip of the year. The Cougar women head to Ft. Collins, Colorado to take on former Mountain West Conference foe, Colorado State on Sat., Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. MT.

ABOUT BYU
Three returning starters and nine letterwinners anchor this year’s team. Last year, the Cougars compiled a 23-10 record, won the West Coast Conference tournament and competed in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

After two games, BYU has two players that are scoring in double figures. Makenzi Morrison Pulsipher (18.5) and All-American Lexi Eaton Rydalch (17.0). All-American Kalani Purcell, a junior college transfer, leads the way in the rebound category (10.5). She pulled down a season-best and game-high 15 boards in the loss at No. 24 Oklahoma on Thursday.

ABOUT COLORADO STATE
Colorado State has compiled a 2-0 record to date with home wins over Western State and Incarnate Word. The Rams return seven letterwinners including three starters from a team that finished last season with a 23-8 record and won the Mountain West Conference regular season title with a 15-3 mark. CSU competed in the first round of the WNIT postseason tournament where they lots to Northern Colorado 48-53. 
 

After two games, the Rams are scoring 72.0 points per game while shooting 43 percent from the field, 25 percent from behind the arc and 60 percent at the free throw line.

BYU leads the series 54-22.

Last Time
These two former MWC foes played last season at EnergySolutions Arena on Dec. 6, 2014. In that matchup, the Cougars recorded the 69-58 win. The last time BYU played at Moby Arena was on Feb. 23, 2011 with the Cougars coming away with the 64-55 victories. BYU is 19-14 in Ft. Collins.

What’s Next
The Cougar women return home for one game next week. They host Utah State on Tuesday, Nov. 24 in an 11 a.m. tip off. Elementary kids from Utah Valley will be in attendance.
