SAN BRUNO, Calif. — BYU women’s golf was selected as the favorite team to win the 2016-17 West Coast Conference Women’s Golf Championships while three BYU players were named to the WCC Women’s Golf Preseason team, announced the WCC on Friday.

The Cougars, who placed first in two fall tournaments, captured 16 points including the maximum of four first-place votes in a poll of the league coaches.

Kendra Dalton, Rose Huang and Alexandra White were named to the preseason All-WCC team. Last year, Dalton was named to the 2015-16 All-WCC First Team, while Huang was named WCC Player of the Year.

BYU won its inaugural WCC Championship and advanced to NCAA Nationals last year.

The Cougars will host the 2017 WCC Championships at Riverside Country Club in Provo, Utah, on April 20-22.
