HENDERSON, Nev. — BYU women’s golf posted a 2-over-par 290 in the final round to finish second at the WCC Women's Golf Championship at Reflection Bay Golf Club on Saturday.

BYU’s Annick Haczkiewicz (75-70-71—216) fought throughout the day to chase down Lauren Gomez of Pepperdine, but a 3-under final round from Gomez secured her the WCC individual title. Haczkiewicz shot 1-under on the final day to finish in solo second, her second-straight top-4 finish.

“I can’t tell you how proud I am of Annick," said BYU head coach Carrie Roberts. "She has worked really hard and overcame so much to get where she is. Annick has been someone we have relied on all season."

Pepperdine’s Lion Higo (76-72-72—220) posted back-to-back even par rounds to finish in a tie for third with teammate Kaleiya Romero (76-73-71—220). Quynn Duong (79-71-74—224) of Gonzaga rounded out the top-5 with a 2-over-par final round.

The Waves shot 21-over-par with rounds of 299-295-291—885 to secure their 18th WCC Conference title. The Cougars finished runner-up at 39-over after carding rounds of 303-310-290—903, including the best round of the tournament on the final day.

"Definitely not the result we wanted, but I loved how we fought on the last day," said Roberts. "It’s the type of energy we need going into regionals."

Santa Clara finished third after rounds of 309-314-310—933 followed by San Francisco who finished fourth after shooting 305-314-310—934. Gonzaga finished fifth by posting rounds of 324-325-302—941.

Kerstin Fotu finished at 10-over par for the championship in a tie for sixth after rounds of 77-75-74—226 in the windy conditions this weekend. Allysha Mae Mateo shot 75-81-74—230 to grab her fourth top-10 finish of the season.

Lila Galeai finished one spot behind Mateo in a tie for 11th after carding rounds of 77-84-71 and Addie Anderson finished tied for 16th with rounds of 76-84-74 for a 54-hole total of 234.
