Cougs head to Logan to face the Aggies

PROVO, Utah — The BYU women’s gymnastics team heads up-state to compete against Utah State on Friday evening at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.  

MEET NOTES

SERIES INFORMATION. This will be the 39th meeting between the BYU Cougars and the Utah State Aggies, including four Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference Championships. In regular season meets, BYU leads 24-12.

Last season, BYU won back-to-back regular season meets against Utah State, notching final scores of 196.575 and 196.775. In the 2022 MRGC Championship, the Aggies took home first place with a score of 197.025, while the Cougars ended the night in fourth with 196.375. 

THE AGGIES. The Utah State Aggies last competed on Friday, Jan. 20 against No. 21 Southern Utah. The Aggies took home second place after notching a final team score of 193.425. With five falls on the night - two on beam and three on bars - Utah State lost to SUU who scored a 196.600. Utah State’s Brianna Brooks competed in the all-around for the first time of her career, notching a 38.800. 

THE COUGARS. The BYU Cougars last competed against Boise State on Jan. 20 in the Marriott Center for their first home meet of the season. With a final team score of 195.475, the Cougars beat the Broncos who notched a 195.300. Six Cougars had career-high scores, including four on the floor apparatus. Anyssa Alvarado earned her second MRGC Bars Specialist of the Week honors with a 9.925 on bars to tie her career high. Rebekah Ripley earned a new career high of 9.925 on floor to earn her first ever MRGC Floor Specialist of the Week honors.
