No. 15 BYU plays LMU in final game of regular season

PROVO, Utah — No. 15 BYU women's soccer travels to Los Angeles for their final WCC matchup of the regular season on Saturday evening. 

GAME NOTES

Saturday’s matchup has been scheduled for 7 p.m. PDT. The game will be carried live on BYURadio.org, the BYU Radio app and BYU Radio 107.9 FM. 

LAST TIME ON THE FIELD. BYU last competed at San Diego on Wednesday, Nov. 2 and exploded for a 6-0 win. Goals by Ellie Maughan, Allie Fryer, Brecken Mozingo, Olivia Wade, Jamie Shepherd and Bella Folino secured the victory for the Cougars. Both Maughan and Shepherd tallied one goal and one assist for three points apiece on the night.

  • The Cougars are currently ranked No. 15 nationally in the latest United Soccer Coaches Top 25

Head Coach - Chris Chamides

  • Record as head coach at LMU: 3-7-6
  • First season as head coach at Loyola Marymount
  • Chamides led the Cal State Los Angeles Golden Eagles to a Division II Men’s National Championship last season
  • United Soccer Coaches named Chamides and his staff the National Coaching Staff of the Year in 2021 while he was with the Golden Eagles

COUGARS VS. LIONS. The Cougars and Lions have played 13 times previously, with BYU leading the series 11-1-1. The last time the two teams met was Oct. 23, 2021 when the Cougars beat the Lions 2-0 on South Field. A goal by Bella Folino in the opening minute of the match, and a second-half goal by former Cougar Mikayla Colohan secured the win on South Field.
