What is the Sunday play policy, or "BYU rule"?
NCAA rules state that if a university competing in an NCAA championship has a written policy against competition on a particular day for religious reasons, the championship schedule must be adjusted to accommodate that institution.* Brigham Young University has a written policy against Sunday play, and therefore will have schedules adjusted to play on Saturday or Monday, even if it involves changing televised or otherwise broadcast events. 

In April 1998 the NCAA Division I Board of Directors struck controversy when it attempted to eliminate its long-standing policy that allowed for some flexibility with regard to Sunday play. Only BYU and Campbell University of North Carolina objected to the rescinding of the rule, which was left in place. The rule calls for teams to formally register their refusal to play on certain days with the NCAA before the season starts, and the NCAA must respect the no-play policy for Sundays.

What is BYU's Honor Code?
Brigham Young University exists to provide an education in an atmosphere consistent with the ideals and principles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. That atmosphere is created and preserved through commitment to conduct that reflects those ideals and principles. 

Initiated by students in 1949, the Honor Code is a matter of personal commitment to values such as honesty, living a chaste and virtuous life, obeying the law, abstaining from alcohol and tobacco, using clean language, and adhering to other values encompassed in the doctrines of the church. The Honor Code is supplemented by additional guidelines on dress, grooming, and housing standards.

How are BYU's athletic programs financially supported?
Most of the funding used for BYU's athletic programs comes from football and men's basketball ticket sales. Additional funds are obtained through corporate sponsors, the fundraising efforts of the Cougar Club, and private donations. The university does provide a small amount of funding, but no tithing dollars from members of the LDS Church are used to run the athletic programs. 

Where has BYU traditionally placed in the Division I Sports Academy Directors' Cup rankings? 

BYU finished the 2006-07 athletic season ranked 26th overall in the Directors' Cup standings, and was the top-ranked Mountain West Conference school in the Directors' Cup. The Cougars were also the highest-ranked school from a non-automatic BCS-qualifying conference.

How has BYU fared in the Mountain West Conference since its inception in 1999? 

In the eight-year history of the MWC the Cougars have claimed 85 conference championships, which is more than half of the 152 conference titles awarded. 

During the 2006-07 season, BYU earned 14 MWC titles including women's cross country, men's cross country, football, men's swimming, women's swimming, men's basketball, women's basketball, men's indoor track and field, women's indoor track and field, women's tennis, men's, golf, softball, and men's outdoor track and field. 

Men's volleyball and gymnastics, which do not compete in the MWC, also achieved success. Men's Volleyball finished second in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation. Gymnastics, which does not compete in a conference, placed fourth at the NCAA Regionals.
