An overnight snowstorm that hit the Lubbock metro area caused the postponement of Thursday's season baseball opener between Texas Tech and BYU.
The 26th-ranked Red Raiders and BYU will now play a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. CST on Friday with the second game following 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first. Both games will be broadcast live over the Internet at www.texastech.com.
"It looks like we will play a seven-inning game followed by a nine-inning game," said BYU Coach Vance Law. "That eliminates two innings I would have liked to have to evaluate another pitcher."
The Cougars will practice Thursday inside the bubble on the Texas Tech campus.
Weather conditions for Friday are expected to be clear with high temperatures in the lower 60's while Saturday's conditions are expected to be clear highs in the lower 70's.
