PROVO, Utah - Junior Gary Tan was nominated Mountain West Conference Swimmer of the week for the second time in less than a month. Tan has won the award at least once in every season at BYU, making this his fourth selection in his career.
Tan, a native of Maryland Park, Singapore, helped the Cougars to a dual meet victory over Utah, winning two individual titles in events he doesn't usually compete in and contributing to a relay victory. In the 400-yard individual medley, Tan set a pool-record with a time of 3:59.82, while winning the 500-yard freestyle in 4:38.32, five seconds ahead of the runner-up. Tan completed the meet by helping the Cougars 200-yard medley relay team to victory, posting a time of 1:32.46.
