Pratt Named MWC Athlete of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS -- BYU freshman Robbie Pratt was named Mountain West Conference Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Week.

Pratt, from El Paso, Texas, cleared a height of 18-02 (5.54m) in the pole vault to place first at the Sun Angel Classic in Tempe, Ariz., April 12. His jump, which qualified him for regionals, is the best in the conference and second best in the nation this season. Pratt moved up to second on BYU's all-time list for the pole vault, just missing Jeff Hansen's school record by half an inch.

Before serving an LDS mission, Pratt was a three-time national Mexico National Champion and a semi-finalist at the Sydney Olympics in 2000. His personal best in the pole vault is 18-04.5.
