PROVO -- After an hour of waiting for rains to stop, Umpire Keith Bailey called the baseball game Thursday between BYU and San Diego State.
Bailey had received the lineups from former major leaguers Tony Gwynn and Vance Law, head coaches of SDSU and BYU, respectively, just before the downpour began.
KBYU-TV and BYU-TV aired some packages during the delay, but will not televise any of the games remaining in the series.
Coaches and umpires determined the series will begin on Friday at 3 p.m., with hopes of playing a doubleheader. If the series is pushed back, there is the possibility of playing a doubleheader on Saturday.
KOVO Radio 960 AM plans to broadcast the first game on Friday at 3 p.m. All games will be on the Internet through the webcasts live on www.byucougars.com.
Patrons with tickets to Thursday night's game need to bring them for re-entry to Friday's 3 p.m. game.
BYU plans to start Jeff Mousser (5-5) and Paul Jacinto (7-5) in Friday's doubleheader. Mousser had warmed up for Thursday's game and both teams had taken complete batting practice and infield warmups.
SDSU, 22-28, and BYU, 22-20, are tied for third place with 14-10 records in the Mountain West Conference.
