PROVO -- A new internet based marketing plan between BYU Athletics and New Connexions will provide Cougar fans with internet service, a rewards based program for subscribers and financial support for its athletic programs.
CougarConnexions is a new internet based marketing program that will give BYU fans nation-wide internet services. A substantial portion of the proceeds from each monthly subscription will go towards supporting BYU's 21 sports programs.
Each subscriber will have unlimited dial-up internet access, (5) e-mail accounts, unlimited technical support, virus-screening software for e-mail, and a family-friendly web filtering program. Every person that joins this service will also earn "Cougar Points" each month, good for BYU apparel, game tickets and other Athletic Department products
According to Peter Pilling, BYU Senior Associate Athletic Director, "the Cougar Connexions Program is a new and creative initiative that us with recurring revenues. Cougar Connexions has the ability to raise significant funds for our department, and will also make available a powerful tool in connecting the athletic department with our faithful fans and supporters throughout the country. And it gives us an opportunity to reward the fans, through the Cougar Points program for their support."
The new program is being marketed aggressively this fall through the university's web site, emails, newsletters, sporting programs, alumni magazines and other avenues to ensure that all BYU supporters have the opportunity to join.
"The benefits to the university and to the fans are significant," said Mark Comer, President of New Connexions. "Our primary goal is to create significant recurring revenue for the athletic program each month while at the same time provide top notch internet services and electronic media information to the BYU supporters throughout the country."
