PROVO -- Senior All-American Aleisha Rose was named second-team CoSIDA Academic All-District VIII on Thursday, adding yet another honor to her already impressive resume.
This is the first CoSIDA Academic honor for Rose, who was named the Mountain West Conference Defensive Player of the Year on Tuesday. Over her college career, Rose has excelled in the classroom as well as on the field earning MWC All-Academic honors and being named a Cougar Club Scholar Athlete.
Rose, a Marriage, Family and Human Development major, is the foundation of the Cougars' successful season that has seen BYU record a 13-5-2 record, a 3-2-1 record over teams ranked in the Top 25 and has headed the team's campaign for a fifth-straight MWC Championship.
Academic All-District VIII honorees are voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors Association based upon their cumulative GPA and contributions to their respective team's success.
To be eligible for the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, an athlete must maintain above a 3.2 cumulative GPA, be a starter or significant reserve, be at least a sophomore and have completed a minimum of one year at the institution where they play.
