Three Former Cougars Inducted in Utah Sports Hall of Fame

Three former Cougars, Dane Iorg, Paul Cummings and Ann Valentine, along with Megan McCunniff-Marsden and Bill Spencer were inducted into the Utah Sports Hall of Fame Foundation this week.

Iorg was an All-American baseball player at BYU who played from 1969 to 1971. Iorg was a record setting outfielder for the Cougars. He hit for a BYU record .467 in 1971 while slugging a WAC best .853. Iorg went on to play professionally after getting drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies.

Cummings was an All-American Runner at BYU from 1972-1975. He won the NCAA mile run in 1974 and went on to run for the U.S. Olympic team in 1984.

Valentine had a stellar career coaching women's tennis at BYU, compiling a 427-175 record. She recently retired as the Associate Director of Women's Athletics, a position she held since 1995.
