PROVO -- In the final rankings released on Wednesday, the BYU women's soccer team finished at No. 14 after turning in a 16-7-3 overall record and advancing to the Elite Eight of the NCAA tournament.

This marks the sixth time in seven years that the Cougars have finished ranked in the top-25 of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll, with the team's best finish coming in 2000 when BYU finished the year with a No. 10 ranking.

The Cougars' No. 14 finish is the third highest in the program's history where the Cougars have finished No. 22 in 1997, No. 13 in 1998, No. 20 in 1999, No. 10 in 2000, and No. 23 in 2002.

Playing one of the toughest schedules in Cougar history, the team defeated some of the top soccer programs in the country including wins over No. 7 Tennessee, No. 11 Colorado, No. 14 USC, No. 14 Kentucky and No. 15 Villanova.

By ending the year with a No. 14 ranking, BYU has now finished its season eight consecutive times ranked in one of the top 25 polls.
