Cougar fans made South Stadium one of the toughest places to play in 2003.
PROVO -- The success of the BYU women's soccer team last season was no secret as seen by the attendance figures of the 2003 season that saw the Cougars record one of their best season in history.
BYU recorded its largest-ever total attendance figure with the third highest total attendance in the nation as 19,097 fans came to South Stadium in 2003 to support the Cougars, a mark that also made South Stadium the No. 1 place in the west for total attendance.
Portland and Santa Clara followed BYU for most attendance in the west, with no other Mountain West Conference schools breaking the top 25.
The Cougars also finished the year as the No. 5 team nationally in average home attendance, drawing an average crowd of 1,469 fans over 13 regular-season-home games.
BYU, who consistently ranks in the top 15 nationally for average attendance, recorded three new all-time attendance highs for South Stadium with 2,758 on hand against Tennessee, 2,412 for Florida and 2,191 in the home opener against Michigan.
