COLORADO SPRINGS -- BYU Senior All-American Michaela Mannova has been named Mountain West Conference Women's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week for the second time in her collegiate career. She is honored with this award after her season opener this past weekend at the University of Washington Invitational in Seattle.

Mannova finished second in the 3,000-meter open, behind pro-runner Malindi Elmore from Asics. She turned a new all-time BYU and MWC record and personal-best time of 9:04.06 in the 3,000-meter. Her time is tops in the NCAA so far this season and automatically qualifies her for the NCAA Championships in March.

In addition to her outstanding individual run, she anchored the Cougar distance medley relay team to a first place finish at the Invitational, beating top-ranked Stanford and UCLA in the process. The team time of 11:06.91 is a new all-time BYU and MWC record and is the fastest in the NCAA this season.

Sharing the award with Mannova as Men's MWC Athlete of the Week is Colorado State freshman thrower Magnus Lohse from Vallda, Sweden.
