With a 1-4 conference record after a disappointing four point-loss at home to instate rival Utah, the women's basketball team, faces two more league foes in UNLV and SDSU on the road. The Cougars and Rebels tip off in Las Vegas on Thurs., Feb. 5 at 7:30 p.m., then BYU faces SDSU in San Diego on Sat., Feb. 7 in a 5 p.m., tip off.

MWC Opponents this week
UNLV
The Lady Rebels are in second place in this week's MWC standings with a 4-1 loss. Their lone conference loss was on Saturday at New Mexico where they came up short by four points, 66-70. The team's overall record is at 15-3 and they are 11-0 when playing at home, including three straight league wins. Three players on UNLV's roster are scoring in double figures led by junior transfer RanDee Henry with an average of 19.9 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. Junior forward Sherry McCracklin follows with 14.6 points and a team high 11.1 boards a game. Also scoring 14.6 points is sophomore Sheena Moore. Moore also tallies 4.2 rebounds per game. As a team, the Lady Rebels are shooting 45 percent from the field, 67 percent from he foul line and their outside shooting is a 32 percent. The team scores 75.1 points per game and only allows opponents 61 percent scoring.

Series Record: 15-6 for BYU
Last Meeting: During the regular league race last year, each team won on it's own home court (63-51) in Provo and (73-69) in Las Vegas. Then at the MWC tournament, the two team's battled in quarterfinal action where the Cougars squeaked out a 66-64 overtime victory. BYU went on to the title game of the tournament, eventually losing to New Mexico.
SDSU
San Diego State will host the Cougars on Saturday afternoon after playing Utah on Thursday night. In this week's early standings, the Aztecs have a 2-3 and 7-11 record. Their two conference wins were at home against CSU and on the road against the Air Force Academy. Three members of the team are contributing in double digit scoring. Freshman guard Michelle Elliott tops the list with an average of 12.9 points and 2.6 rebounds per game. Ashlee Dunlap a 6-1 sophomore forward is next with 11.9 points and a team high 9.6 boards a game. Another freshman, Courtney Fritz rounds out the scoring threat for the Aztecs with 10.1 points and 2.3 rebounds per game. SDSU is shooting 39 percent from the field, 64 percent from the free throw line and 32 percent from behind the arc. The team is scoring 56.8 points to opponents 58.9.

Traveling with the cougars
The BYU team departs Wed., Feb. 4 at 2:55p.m., on Delta flight #588, arriving in Las Vegas at 3:15 p.m. While there the Cougars will stay at the Amerisuites, 4520 Paradise Road, 702-369-3366, 702-369-0009, fax. On Friday, Feb. 6, BYU travels to San Diego on Southwest Airlines flight #1954, getting in at 10:15 a.m. The team's hotel will be the San Diego Marriott, 8757 Rio San Diego Drive, 619-692-3800, 619-692-0769, fax. BYU is back in Salt Lake City on Sun., Feb. 8, arriving on Delta flight #1633, arriving at 12:05 p.m.

BYU is back at home the week of Feb. 9, hosting Wyoming on Feb. 12 and CSU on Feb. 14. Tip offs are 7 and 4 p.m., respectively. The CSU game will air live on BYU-TV, and on KBYU-TV.
