Lords No.1 on beam and floor exercise
COLUMBIA -- Senior Kari Lords took first place on the beam (9.950) and in the floor exercise (9.900) at the Cat Classic Individual Championship on Saturday night at the Hearnes Center in Columbia, Mo.
The Cougars took second place in last night's competition (196.125). Based on the individual results, the top ten competitors from each event, ensuring representation from each school, were called back for the individual championship.
Missouri's Alisha Robinson took first in the vault (9.900) and the uneven bars (9.985). Robinson was the only competitor to be called back in all four events.
Other strong finishes for BYU included junior Jaime Mabray, taking fourth in vault (9.850), and sophomore Lisa Willis, taking fifth in the floor exercise.
BYU was also represented on vault by Marie-Helene Claveau (9.275) and Kirsten Pauga (9.275), on bars by Willis (9.700) and Lords (9.700) and in the floor exercise by Mabray (9.800) and Claveau (9.800).
The Cougars' next meet is at home on Friday, Feb. 13, against Utah State at 7 p.m. in the Marriott Center.
