COLORADO SPRINGS -- The Fall 2003 Academic All-Mountain West Conference team was announced today and BYU leads the list of those honored.
The team consists of 317 student-athletes from the sports of football, volleyball, women's soccer, men's and women's cross country that maintained at least a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better, completed at least one academic semester at the member institution, and are a significant contributor on the teams in which they compete.
BYU placed a conference-high 56 student-athletes on the Academic All-MWC team, and the women's volleyball team placed seven individuals.
The players who earned the honor are Lindsey Metcalf (3.88), Lexi Brown (3.72), Lindsey Kearl (3.48), Uila Crabbe (3.44), Laura Nielsen (3.34), Lindsy Hartsock (3.12) and Melanie Togo (3.10).
