PROVO, Utah (Feb. 12, 2004) The fourth in a series of homes built by The Utah Valley Home Builders' Association (UVHBA), in conjunction with the BYU Cougar Club, held a groundbreaking ceremony, Thursday in Orem.
Cougar House IV is being built to benefit the BYU Athletic Department through the skills and generous contributions of members of the Utah Valley Home Builders' Association. With the sale proceeds anticipated from Cougar House IV, the aggregate contributions from UVHBA to BYU will total more than $500,000. The home is located at 140 West 2170 South in Orem.
The annual proceeds from Cougar House fund an endowment that benefits BYU student athletes; the annual interest from the endowment provides athletic scholarships. Past recipients of the UVHBA scholarship include Academic All-MWC wide receiver Andy Ord, All-MWC offensive lineman Brandon Stephens, and All-American track and cross country athlete Kassi Andersen.
Cougar House IV has been made possible by the generous contribution of a building lot by the Ercanbrack Family. The home will be built in the Legacy development of the Ercanbrack Farms Estates in Orem, and is scheduled to be completed in July 2004 in time for Utah Valley's Parade of Homes.
