Divers Fare Well on First Day of NCAA Zones

OKLAHOMA -- Two Cougar divers, Justin Beardall and Scott Randall, had an excellent first day of competition at the NCAA Zone E competition held in Oklahoma City Thursday afternoon.

"Both divers did a good job. Justin was on his way but just missed one dive to make it in the top three," diving coach Keith Russell said. "They should finish well in the 1-meter springboard tomorrow."

The first day's competition consisted of the men's 3-meter and the women's 1-meter competition.

Beardall was the Cougars' highest finisher at seventh place with a score of 472.9, while Randall finished ninth with a score of 454.25. Tomorrow the pair will compete in the men's 1-meter springboard.

Sterling Richards of Utah finished at eighth place with a 467.85, just below Beardall in the competition.
