Cougar Men Perform Well at NCAA Competition

EAST MEADOW -- Diogo Yabe and Zach Anderson each set personal records in the 200-meter freestyle and Justin Beardall just missed making the finals of the 3-meter diving competition on the second day of the NCAA Championships held at the County Aquatic Center in East Meadow, N.Y.

"These were both their best times in the 200 free, so we can't feel bad about that," Coach Tim Powers said. "This is a really fast meet and a lot of records are being broken, so I'm happy with how Zach and Diogo swam today."

Yabe finished in 1:48.73 to place 29th, while Anderson finished in 1:49.33 and placed 38th. Both swimmers will compete on the final day of the championships with Yabe swimming the 100-meter free and Anderson competing in the 1,500-meter free.

Beardall finished his collegiate career by placing 17th just missing the finals by .35 points. His score in the prelims was 504.80.
