COLORADO SPRINGS -- BYU sophomore shortstop Brandon Taylor was named the Mountain West Conference Player of the Week.
Taylor, from Orem, Utah (Utah Valley State College), helped the Cougars
take two-of-three games from New Mexico last week in conference play.
After going 2-for-5 with a triple and an RBI in a loss to the Lobos,
Taylor went 7-for-11 over the next two games with three home runs and
nine RBI.
In game two, he was 4-for-6 with a double and a home run, and
in the series finale, he was 3-for-4 with two homers and three RBI. For
the week, Taylor hit .600 (9-for-15) with a double, a triple, three home
runs and 10 RBI. Taylor leads the MWC with 11 home runs and is one of
only six players hitting over .400 in MWC contests this season.
