PROVO -- Ianeta Le`i, a 5-7 sophomore from Oahu, Hawai`i has been named the Deseret Book/BYU Female Player of the Month for May.

In her second season on the BYU softball team, Le`i continued to be an offensive threat at the plate and led the Cougars to register 34-18 overall record. She was named MWC Player of the Year after posting a .348 batting average and 49 hits including 11 doubles, three triples and seven home runs. She earned back-to-back NFCA West All-Region and All-MWC honors with her solid play at first base.

Le`i also broke a new BYU single-game record for most RBI in a game with seven this season against conference-rival Utah. She was voted team Co-Offensive Player of the Year recognition after an outstanding season.
